Aminopterin, also known as 4-Aminofolic acid, is a folic acid antagonist and a 4-amino derivative of folic acid. It functions by catalyzing the reduction of folic acid to tetrahydrofolic acid and competitively inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) with a Kᵢ of 3.7 pM. This compound exhibits both anticancer and immunosuppressive activities, making it useful in the treatment of pediatric leukemia.
